Ice Hockey and the Homeless

Ice Hockey and the Homeless don't always go together, but on Thursday night we had a night dedicated to the homeless, sponsered by the Destiny Haven Foundation. We went and collected jackets, new socks, and blankets donated by the attendees at the Hockey game. We came home with over 400 items. The girls sold hockey pucks to the fans, that were tossed out to the ice during the second intermission. the person who comes the closest to the Black dot in the center of the ice wins a prize. If you hit the black dot you win half of the money collected from the sales of the night and if no one hits it, it rolls over to the next night. Unfortunately no one hit it that night so it rolled over. It was worth over $1800.00 that night. We also get to see the last 2 quarters of the game. It was very interesting and had lots of fights. Someone said that these teams were arch rivals and had lots of bad blood between them. It was a long night, but we accomplished lots and met lots of very giving people, who thanked us for all our efforts.

no offense to britt, but that last picture...she kinda reminds me of a homeless person! only because of her beanie pushed up like that...i think i've seen one too many homeless with beanies on.

on a more positive note, wow! over 400 items! you are going to make some people very happy!

I was just trying to fit in. Plus, mom and dad told me to dress really warm because the game was going to be FREEZING! Yaaa... it wasn't that cold.
